Emmanuel Offeh-Menshah Receives 2019 Lester Z. Lieberman Humanism in Healthcare Award

Emmanuel Offeh-Mensah’s open heart reaches beyond the walls of JSDD’s WAE Center into the community within which he surrounds himself. Employed here since 2015, the Center administration and staff feel fortunate to have a direct support professional of such caliber to work with and who can be counted on in any situation.

Emmanuel is a true humanist as he sees the importance and value in every individual. He understands what goodness is and what being a good person really means as he supports the men and women of the WAE Center with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. He demonstrates this by showing careful and thoughtful interest in each person, staff and client. The importance of being proactive with and for his clients is vital to the productivity seen in the individuals with whom he is assigned to work. He takes an active role in supporting people so they are benefitting from every learning opportunity, whether it is art, literacy, theater games, cooking, therapy or simply gathering with a small group of peers.

Emmanuel is intuitive. He takes the time to understand what our clients are experiencing, regardless of ability or disability. He has a positive spin on life and shares that perspective with clients and peers, to everyone’s delight.  Emmanuel is a true mensch and is someone that can be counted on for decency, professionalism, empathy and gratitude.

Emmanuel is dedicated, responsible and reliable there is no task too much or too big, He takes initiative with a most pleasant demeanor and is always kind. A smart, sensitive person, he specializes in finding solutions to difficult problems. His desire to learn leads him to ask questions regularly. With his soft demeanor and ability to stand back, he demonstrates an understanding of how to break down barriers, while supporting boundaries. Emmanuel shares his knowledge with all his colleagues supporting the care and well- being of our clients and personal growth of staff.
