The Manager of JSDD’s Verona Apartments is Lena A., a graceful woman with incredible style. Not only is she always dressed impeccably, she has dedication and impeccable work ethic, as well, that has resulted in increased responsibilities and promotions during her 13 years with the agency!  Her first position was working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the WAE Center – a holistic, creative and expressive arts learning program for people with disabilities dedicated to “Finding the Spark Within”.  Lena joined the residential team and was promoted to Assistant Manager and then Manager when an opportunity presented. Slice Out Hunger, Slice, and Pizza to the Polls have collaborated to form Pizza vs. Pandemic.  Together they are feeding front line care workers by coordinating large orders with independent pizzerias.  These pizza orders provide much needed revenue to the small business restaurants.   JSDD was selected to be a recipient of this generous donation and several boxes of pizza were delivered this week to  the our homes. A Memorial Day celebration was held at the Passaic Ave. home with the women showing their patriotism in red, white and blue dress and decorations.  They participated in festive activities throughout the day with the assistance of the remarkable Director Support Professionals (DSP’s).  One resident was the DJ for the party and created a playlist in collaboration with one of the staff members. Monique J.,  (second from left, above) Residential Manager of the Livingston home has been going above and beyond working on average 80 hours a week since the pandemic began.  She has demonstrated her commitment to JSDD and the women she cares for, by being there to cover shifts of her staff when they haven’t been able to work.
