The women of JSDD’s Livingston residence have been enjoying life, even when having to stay at home each day.  Monique, Residential Manager has artistically created a video showcasing the fun happenings  which are being enjoyed.     

Jared C. began working at JSDD’s WAE Center in 2017 as a DSP, bringing his positive personality and friendly smile.  In early March 2020 when the Center had to close its doors because of the pandemic, Jared was transferred to the Millburn home.  Most of the residents in this home had been attending the WAE Center and Jared had previously established a trusting relationship with them, helping to make a smooth transition for him and them.  “I love the residents and think of them as my second family.  I enjoy having the opportunity to spend time with them and get to know each distinct personality.  I can anticipate their needs and there is never a dull moment in the house”, […]

It was a pleasure to speak with Shila B., Assistant Manager in the Millburn home.  She has worked for JSDD for an amazing 9 years!  When she first started working as a DSP in 2011, she didn’t think the job would find her loving the work as much as she does.  “The residents become my family and I love them”, said Shila. Nothing makes Shila happier than when they tell her they love her, and she knows it is truly genuine. Residents from JSDD’s twelve homes got together virtually to express birthday wishes for president Ellen Goldner. To the tune of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” residents are pictured in this video sharing their colorful hand-crafted cards and participating in other activities both before and during shelter-in-place.

Enthusiastic birthday greetings for Ellen from WAE Center members and staff.

There is no one more genuine in their admiration for WAE artists and the accomplishments of WAE members than Ellen. “She touches and shapes the self-esteem of our members and their sense of belonging to something bigger. Ellen’s presence, enthusiasm, encouragement, warmth, and pride are infectious and inspirational,” says Linda Press.
