The 2019 JSDD Staff Holiday Party was held at The Appian Way in Orange, NJ.  The residential staff are admirable individuals who are dedicated and work hard to deliver quality care to each of the members throughout the year, as well as, the JSDD’s administrative staff .   All were welcomed into a festive atmosphere decorated with holiday cheer for the luncheon.  Delicious Italian cuisine was served with a DJ livening up the gathering with entertaining music that motivated the staff to get up and dance.  Excitement was felt in the room when the raffle tickets were being drawn and the abundance of gifts were distributed to very happy winners! JSDD’s WAE Center is incredibly thankful for the dedicated and committed volunteers who have been enriching our members for years by sharing their time, talent, and wisdom.  Fran Beinhaker, Elliot Bennett, Pam Friedman, and Marcia Gurian provide regular and reliable programming and support teaching sign language, communication skills, knitting, crocheting, supporting the arts and wellness classes, and just being a “friend”.

Jessica DaSilva Jessica DaSilva, Director of Accounting, is a force of nature. She has been employed at JSDD since March of 2016 and rose quickly from staff accountant to the Director of our intimate, but incredibly essential department. For a small four-person accounting office, the level of efficiency is remarkable. Juggling payroll, communications with vendors, funders, 150 employees and the families and finances of more than 100 residents and WAE Center members, she also spearheaded the shift to Medicaid billing these past 18 months without a hitch. The agency was bracing for a significant change in cash flow, which, thanks to our incredible accounting department, has not been an issue. JSDD provides a full spectrum of services promoting independent living skills and life fulfillment opportunities through the group homes with supportive living options.   During Shabbat the chance presents itself for different Group Homes to come together to celebrate Shabbat among their friends and have a delicious meal.  As you can see from the pictures everyone truly enjoys the time they have together!

On Tuesday, November 26, 2019 the WAE Center members were treated to a Thanksgiving Feast, hosted by Mary Jo, David and Scott Reich.  It was also Scott’s birthday and all his friends at the WAE Center along with his parent sang Happy Birthday and then were treated to delicious birthday cake. Scott is beloved by all who know him at the WAE Center.  He loves music, has an incredible sense of humor and his smile lights up the room.
