Hagit Oren, Judaic Coordinator for JSDD facilitates Sunday Chavurah classes in the WAE Center.  This weeks class was about Bersheit-In the Beginning.  Hagit taught that G-d created the world, through the beginnings of the people of Israel, their descent into Egypt, and the giving of the Torah at biblical Mount Sinai.     The class also enjoyed food they prepared together.

Hagit Oren, Judaic Coordinator helped the girls of the Livingston Group Home celebrate Sukkot in the beautiful Sukkah that was built on their back deck. 

On October 6, a festive atmosphere prevailed as over 100 guests came together to witness the ceremonial groundbreaking for JSDD’s Cooperman Family Campus. The event was held on the grounds of SWS Architects, adjacent to the JSDD’s new Livingston property. Before shovel hit dirt, donors, friends, and JSDD staff were all smiles as they posed for photos in front of the special backdrop designed by our Groundbreaking Committee.

The Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) recently hosted its biennial event known as Shorashim (meaning “roots”), which honors all donors who have made legacy or endowment gifts through JCF’s legacy societies: Lester, Lion of Judah Endowment, MetroWest Tomorrow, Herskowitz and Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL). JSDD has been part of CJL for more than five years, and during that time we have secured more than 50 gifts to help ensure that JSDD remains vibrant and able to serve our clients long into the future.   The Chavurah Program meets on Sunday at the WAE Center.  Chavurah is a shared communal experiences of Jewish learning.  Hagit Oren JSDD’s Jewish Coordinator plans and teaches the creative program.
