The WAE Center’s Reader’s Theater class will be presenting “Gobble Gobble Ghost” on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 10:30am in the WAE Center Main Room.  It is a story about a turkey who was turned into a ghost.  The picture below shows the participants working hard on learning and practicing their lines for the show.   Sukkot 2019 (October 13-20, 2019) Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur. Sukkot celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous protection G‑d provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. We celebrate Sukkot by dwelling in a foliage-covered booth (known as a sukkah) and by taking the “Four Kinds” (arba minim), four special species of vegetation. Rabbi Moshe Rudin, from Adath Shalom in Morris Plains, came to lead the WAE Center members and staff  in the Sukkot celebrations.

On October 6, a festive atmosphere prevailed as over 100 guests came together to witness the ceremonial groundbreaking for JSDD’s Cooperman Family Campus. The event was held on the grounds of SWS Architects, adjacent to the JSDD’s new Livingston property. Before shovel hit dirt, donors, friends, and JSDD staff were all smiles as they posed for photos in front of the special backdrop designed by our Groundbreaking Committee.

  Four students in the Wae Center’s Art of Photography class are taking a series of special self-portraits this month to share with their respective overseas pen pals.  Each of the students has a pen pal abroad.  Each has written a Halloween greeting which we are mailing today — to Germany, Russia, Thailand, and Japan.   In their correspondence this month the students have described in detail some of our American customs associated with Halloween, which may seem strange to a person of another culture.  At the same time, they’ve asked their foreign friends to tell them how this season is celebrated in their part of the world.    Maria’s card will go to Mamiko in Japan.  Grace is sending her Halloween greeting to Ratchada […]
