The Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) recently hosted its biennial event known as Shorashim (meaning “roots”), which honors all donors who have made legacy or endowment gifts through JCF’s legacy societies: Lester, Lion of Judah Endowment, MetroWest Tomorrow, Herskowitz and Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL). JSDD has been part of CJL for more than five years, and during that time we have secured more than 50 gifts to help ensure that JSDD remains vibrant and able to serve our clients long into the future.   The Chavurah Program meets on Sunday at the WAE Center.  Chavurah is a shared communal experiences of Jewish learning.  Hagit Oren JSDD’s Jewish Coordinator plans and teaches the creative program.

  Here is a photo I took yesterday while the Art of Photography class was in session.   Victoria, Edward, Grace, and Maria are sending out their first letters (with accompanying self-portraits) this week.  Their new friends overseas are doing the same.   We are all looking forward to these and many more monthly exchanges.   With thanks,      John Skillin  

The class is called CREATIVITY CLASS, it is held on Tuesdays from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.  It is led by our Studio Associate Faye Graye. The class itself is an exploratory class that often gets into some in-depth discussions.   For the month of September, we are exploring pre-historic times.  This past week, the members were invited to create art on slate using rocks, charcoal, and oil pastels.  The members started a conversation around the table on creationist theory vs. Darwinism.
