Monday, June 26th a Virtual Artists Reception was held, and artists, facilitators, family, fans and friends gathered to view and discuss this year’s exhibit.

Six WAE Studio artists joined the reception to speak about their specific piece, in addition to their art practice in general. Christina M, Daniel M, Elliot A., Kimmy F., Kristen I., and Zak Z each answered questions about their work and discussed the role that creativity plays in their life. The exhibited work includes photography, drawing, acrylic on canvas, mixed media/collage work, and digital manipulated photography. All exhibited work is available for sale.

Facilitators: Faye Graye, Lisette Rotman, and Esther Tanahashi, spoke directly to the work on exhibit and the artists process in the art studio. Some group projects were included in this years’ exhibit and Faye Graye discussed how those collaborations unroll in the studio. Matheny artists and facilitators also shared their thoughts, processes, and feelings about the work on exhibit.

This collaboration allows WAE artists and Arts Access artists to meet, see one another’s work, learn about sources of inspiration, choices of materials and methodologies.  The benefits of connecting and learning from one another can’t be overstated.  This year’s artist reception was inspirational on many levels and was attended by over 40 people.
